About

Console ambition. Browser freedom.

HQBG is a home for free browser games, made by one independent developer in Israel.

Why HQBG

HQBG means browser games HQ: one headquarters for every game I make, where you can find them, learn them and play them with friends. It used to be called Wave Battler Games, after the first game. Wave Battler is still here, it just has company now.

Who makes the games

Hi, I'm Ran. Every game on this site is designed by me and built for the web. It started with Wave Battler, a small wave-survival game I wanted to play between work tasks. It grew into two worlds, ten bosses and online co-op, and then into a home for more games.

Why the browser

I like games that look and feel like they belong on a console, but I don't like the waiting: stores, downloads, updates and accounts before you can play. A browser tab removes all of that. You open a page on a Mac or a Windows computer and you are playing a few seconds later, alone or with friends.

How the games are made

Each game is built from scratch, then play-tested again and again, sometimes with bots that play run after run so the balance can be checked with real numbers. Most changes on this site come from that testing and from what players tell me. The blog has the story behind the bigger ones, and every game has its own page with controls and guides (19 so far).

Free, and still in beta

All 6 games are free to play. The site may show ads on its guide and information pages, and Wave Battler has a few optional extras, like cosmetic ship skins. The games are still in beta: things get added, tuned and fixed every week. See the Terms and the Privacy Policy for the details.
